Most styles available from besser gehen are outfitted with the so-called pin buckle. Pin buckle designates the classic form of a buckle like you’ve probably seen hundreds of times before. These are available in many different colours and sizes – some are even embossed with the individual brand name. Each of these buckles is corrosion-protected and treated with special rust-proofing. Two types of refinement are employed: one is a baked enamel finish that is applied several times and the other a powder coating, which is mainly used for buckles used in wet areas. Both types of refinement guarantee that each buckle withstands the special demands of your feet for years if not decades. In order to warrant the safest hold, all pin buckles are attached to the upper material by up to 4 staples. The staples are turned under on the inside so that they cannot be felt. The staple encloses the buckle in a way that is reminiscent of a pretzel.
In contrast to pin buckles lift-up buckles are not stapled to the upper material. They simply hold the upper and lower material together in a kind of levitating connection. To adjust the width one only has to put the two upper material pieces over top of each other, fix them with the help of the buckle and close the buckle. To adjust the width, the lift-up buckle is simply flipped open – this is most easily done by pulling up the end of the strap until the buckle opens.
Sliding buckles consist of two separate interlocking parts. To close the buckle the upper part of the strap is simply put over the pin and snapped in place. To open, the buckle is slightly slid off to the side. The strap pieces come loose.
Velcro® closures allow for infinitely variable width adjustment. For quite a long time this technology had only been used in the sports shoe industry. In the meantime, however, it has come to be used for sandals and clogs more and more.
The Velcro® closure is particularly well-liked as a fashionable accessory with sophisticated function.
